The Battle of Frenchtown (often called the Battle of the River Raisin) in January 1813 was a significant, albeit tragic, turning point for the United States during the War of 1812.
At the center of this event was Brigadier General James Winchester, whose leadership—or lack thereof—led to one of the most devastating American defeats of the war.
